SLEEK SIMPLICITY

The first rule of contemporary design is minimalism: clean lines andclean counters are essential. Contemporary bathroom designs do not allow for alot of storage, so keep your storage needs in mind when deciding if this moderndesign is right for your space. If you need to have your hairdryer, contactlens case, cosmetic bag or shaving kit all at arm's reach on the counter at alltimes, find sleek cabinets. Cluttered counters and contemporary design justdon't work well together.

                                                             andrea.halleywright@gmail.com

DESIGNSENSE is a blank canvas for you to express your aspirations and personality. DESIGNSENSE is developing your every idea to its fullest potential. DESIGNSENSE is a process grounded in the reality of time and budget constraints.

DESIGNSENSE IS WHAT WE CREATE.

DESIGNSENSE is a sixth sense for space that pleases all the senses:

·      Initial on-site consultation: assessment of existing space
·      Detailed evaluation of project
·      Plans to make the best use of your existing space
·      Choosing textiles, lighting, hardware… even how to set up your rooms for both functionality and excitement
·      What colors you should use
·      Types of materials to be used for your project(s)
·      Help you choose the right contractors/ handymen
·      Project manage your renovation(s)

Size Matters Even in Your Home

The size of pieces relative to one another and the size of the space is their scale. Scaled pieces are more serene when used together, but a nice balance of pieces creates a harmonious atmosphere, utilizing the differing physical qualities of height, depth and width throughout the room. When furnishings are out of scale, you'll notice that it just won't feel comfortable or right.

DesignSense - Think Gestalt

Most homes are filled with challenges. How do I arrange my furniture. What art work should I hang? Does this look right?  Try following these simple tips to turn your design dilemmas into Design Sense.

1. Think Gestalt
All furniture arrangements have a certain gestalt, or "totality," a "form". Large rectangular spaces can be dealt with by dividing the "form" of the space into another form. A long narrow living space, for instance, can be split in two by creating zones of function. Take the bite out of large rectangular rooms by dividing them into zones of function.

2. Take Measurements
The first step in arranging a space is determining its size. Use a tape measure to get the dimensions of a room. Or, a quick tip: measure your foot and then walk heel to toe across the room. It's an easy way to estimate the basic size, and counting your footsteps will give you a rough measurement before you shop for furniture.
Always check the dimensions of the hallways, stairs and door widths leading to the space. This is the eternal challenge for the homeowner, being sure the entrance and egress of the room is large enough for potential purchases.
3. Estimate Volume
Every object has a height, depth and width. For added visual interest to any space, add varying furniture of varying characteristics. If you are going for a serene, unchallenging area for rest or recover, keep the furnishing volumes in a room similar.
4. It's All a Matter of Scale
The size of pieces relative to one another and the size of the space is their scale. Again, similarly scaled pieces are more serene when used together, but a nice balance of pieces creates a harmonious atmosphere, utilizing the differing physical qualities of height, depth and width throughout the room. When furnishings are out of scale, you'll notice that it just won't feel comfortable or right.

Kitchens: The heart of your home

Families come in various shapes and sizes, but the one constant in many homes is that

everyone in the family is busy.  In the kitchen, it's often about making the most out of what

little time you have to cook. And it is most often the meeting hub!
