UP Chair Design by Gaetano Pesce

The Gaetano Pesce UP5 Chair and UP6 Ottoman were designed by Gaetano Pesce in 1969 for B&B Italia. They were re-issued in 2000. Since its first appearance, the Up series has been one of the most outstanding expressions of design. The exceptional visual impact of seven models of seats, in various sizes, has made them unique in time. Up5 is the collection’s most famous. It was created to symbolize “the shackles that keep women subjugated”, and is available in black, red, blue, green, yellow, and the orange and beige stripe.

The Up5 chair is the most recognizable of the collection, and is reminiscent of a female figure. The furniture has a lot in common with women body curves and it offers exceptional softness.
